Tooth replacement options
If you are missing a tooth, it is possible to replace this, even if the tooth has been missing for a long time.
To replace a missing tooth with something which is fixed in the mouth, you would use either a dental implant or a fixed bridge.
A dental implant is a tooth replacement. It consists of three parts; an artificial tooth root which is the titanium implant, the connector which connects the entrance to the outside surface and the crown which is the biting part of the tooth.
A bridge can be one of two types, either a fixed bridge – which involves crowning the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth.
Or an adhesive bridge which is held in place by being bonded to the adjacent tooth.
