How to Protect Worn Teeth and Improve Your Smile with Bonding

We all want a nice bright smile and bonding is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to achieve that.

Available at our London clinic, it can be used for a variety of cosmetic reasons including:

>Improving the appearance of a discoloured or chipped tooth.
>Closing a space between teeth.
>Making your teeth look longer or changing its shape.

Bonding is similar to having veneers although it is less expensive, easier to do and more practical for a single visit to the dentist.

It involves applying a composite resin to your tooth to improve its appearance which can then be easily shaped and polished to match your surrounding teeth. It  is a popular treatment if you want to improve your smile at a price that won’t break the bank.

At the Alkali Dental Studios in Putney, London, we offer this practical and affordable solution to your dental needs. The process is very simple and quick.

How Does Bonding Work?

First of all your dentist will coat the tooth with a conditioning liquid which helps the bonding material adhere to the enamel.

Then the bonding material is applied, the resin is shaped and smoothed to match your surrounding teeth and hardened under an ultraviolet light or laser treatment.
As a final touch, once it has hardened, your dentist will further shape and trim it and then polish the surface.

The procedure can be completed for one tooth in around 30 minutes but more extensive work may require more than one visit.

Will I Need Anaesthesia?

Unless you are using bonding to fill a decayed tooth, you won’t need any anaesthetic. It is not an invasive process and is largely pain free.

How Do I Care for My Teeth After Bonding?

Your dentist will recommend and after care process once the bonding has been done and this may include:

-Not eating or drinking certain things for a period of 48 hours after the procedure.
-Making sure you brush your teeth often and visit a dental hygienist on a regular basis.
-Avoiding habits like biting your nails or opening things with your teeth.

If you are looking for an affordable and quick process that can give you whiter, nicer looking teeth, then this quick and easy procedure may be for you.
